Food Services Over the last three years we have averaged roughly 230,000 meals per year. That is equal to roughly 650 meals per day. We couldn't make that happen if it weren't for the generosity of everyone in our community who helps by donating food, time and countless other items to keep our kitchen up and running. Our meal times are:
Breakfast 6:30 a.m.
Lunch 12:00 p.m.(Sundays at 1:00 p.m.)
Dinner 7:00 p.m.

Shelter The Good News Rescue Mission is Shasta County’s only homeless shelter and the only AGRM shelter in the Sacramento Valley north of Oroville and south of Medford/Klamath Falls. We serve an immensely rural geographic area and a huge population of people in need. Our shelter provides guests with up to 30 days emergency shelter and extended stays where necessary or in situations where steps to self improvement are undertaken such as job search or money savings programs. Including all facilities, in recent years we have averaged over 200 guests per night and seen numbers approach 400 to 500 in times of severely inclement weather. Your gifts allow us to truly offer a hand up to people in desperate need.
Resource Center The Resource Center is located at 3100 South Market adjacent to the original three story Mission building. The Resource Center is the first stop for anyone seeking assistance from the Mission and provides guests with information on all the opportunities for assistance available at the Mission as well as referrals to resources available elsewhere. Academic Center The Academic Center is an integral and supporting element to the New Life & In-Step recovery programs and is also available to shelter guests. The Academic Center offers GED Completion coursework and testing, work-based learning, individual and group tutoring, and other special instruction designed to provide learners with the tools necessary for self sustanance, wise choices and healthy and productive relationships. Distribution Center The Good News Rescue Mission's Distribution Center at 2830 South Market Street in Redding is a "thrift shop" style program for anyone in need of clothing or other household items. All items are free and provided by generous donors. The "DC" accepts donations of gently used clothing or household items in good condition, but requests that they be laundered or otherwise sanitized prior to acceptance. A voucher is needed to "shop" in the DC and may be obtained by contacting the Resource Center at 3100 South Market Street. For more information please call (530) 241-0449. Chapel Christ-centered chapel services are held nightly in the dining hall at 6 p.m. Numerous Christian churches representing numerous denominations from around the area participate in teaching the Good News of Jesus Christ and offering everyone present the opportunity to learn & worship. Facility Maintenance is an ongoing need at the Mission. We have been extremely blessed by the countless volunteers and professionals who have donated so much of their time, talents and resources necessary to keep all aspects of our facilities in good repair.
